Violence and Conflict Workshop: Deglobalization and globalizing decolonization in the short twentieth century
On Tuesday 11 March, the Violence and Conflict Workshop is hosting Professor Martin Thomas of the University of Exeter to give their annual Distinguished Speaker Lecture on the topic 'Deglobalization and globalizing decolonization in the short twentieth century'. Professor Thomas researches violence in both the former British and French empires, with a specific focus on North Africa, the Caribbean and South East Asia. His latest project entitled, 'The Rhetoric of Empire: Managing Imperial Conflict between Britain and France,' compares the language and rhetorical devices of British and French political elites in times of imperial tension. Professor Thomas will draw on this wide range of expertise to deliver his lecture on the intersections between globalization and decolonization.
